Each year from January to March and from October to December I run pottery classes which take the form of small informal groups of six students per class who come to the workshop for two and a half hour sessions over a period of seven weeks
Since I have four wheels, there is plenty of opportunity for throwing pots as well as for hand building. Beginners and more advanced students are equally welcome.
The cost of an seven week course is £100 which covers all materials and firing costs and should be paid at the beginning by cash or cheque.
If you are interested, please fill in the 2009 Course Application Form and post it to me as soon as possible. Even if this is outwith class time I will add you to my database and keep you informed. If you require any further information please contact me.
AUTUMN COURSES
The Autumn courses, which have been running for some years now, will follow the usual format with groups of six people attending for seven weeks on either Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons or on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. The afternoon classes are from 2.00 till 4.30 and the evening classes from 7.00 till 9.30.
The classes will start this year on Tuesday 13th October and Wednesday 14th October and end seven weeks later on Tuesday 24th November and Wednesday 25th November by which time you will have made all your very special Christmas presents!
The cost will be £100 which will cover all material and firing costs.
RAKU FIRING
This is a “good fun” session which allows you to experience glazing and firing a pot yourself which you can take away at the end of the session. I will provide ready biscuit-fired pots and students will glaze them and fire them in a small kiln. Due to the low temperature nature of the process, they can be fired very quickly and removed from the kiln after which they are covered with sawdust to further develop the glaze colours and when cool enough can be cleaned up to reveal unique and individual effects.
The Raku sessions lasting three hours will be in groups of six and the cost, including your pot and all materials and firing costs, will be £25.00 per person.
I currently have no set dates for Raku sessions, but watch the website for details, or they can be arranged individually with groups of 4.
WEEKEND CLASSES
These are aimed at giving people an introduction to throwing or can be used to solve the problems of more advanced students. They will involve two 3 hour sessions held on Saturday/Sunday Mornings 10am until 1pm or Saturday/Sunday Afternoons, 2pm until 5pm.
Each student will have their own wheel and we will cover the basics of throwing in session 1 and finishing in session 2. A glaze will then be chosen and the pots will be finished to be collected or sent at a later date. Classes will be run when a miniimum of 3 students are available on one weekend and gift vouchers make this a great idea as a present for people who have always wanted to try throwing a pot.
